This map shows the different vegetation coverage of Sonoma County. afferent uses, like urban, grazing, forest or vineyard are represented by different colors. Most agriculture is represented by shades of purple, grassland tan, forests green and urban grey.
Maps like this give us the quick overview to see how we are using land, and where certain uses are focused. We see that the South of the county is almost exclusively grazing, the northwest is forested, and there is significant land along the Russian River and Laguna de Santa Rosa corridor being used for agriculture. This was developed using lidar imagery of the county, and multispectral cameras to analyze vegetation type. We use this when doing land analysis to get a quick picture of what land uses surround our projects.
